CONCEPT

Here is a cantina called mograg.

It’s somewhere in a corner of the galaxy.

Every day, many travelers from various planets come here to socialize.

Well, tonight, it seems that the people of nine planets are having fun talking to each other.

The artist's brain is like a planet in itself.

The square canvas is a "window" through which we can see the worlds of these planets.

Let's dive in their stories (verse) and travel in the universe of creation.

mograg gallery is a gallery with the aspect of an artist community, where artists and their friends gather on a daily basis to exchange updates on their works and activities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been pondering the interaction between “people and people” and “people and art”.
We will present an exhibition in the motif of "CANTINA (bar)", a space where you can feel the joy and pleasure of this interaction.

Born in 1979. Artist, acrylic painter. Works in an art style known as automatism, in which the subconscious guides the artist’s creative process. It begins with pencil, letting himself draw lines without thinking, and then finds forms and motifs in the work that he brings out in pen, and finally, connect on the colorful and humorous brain world. Also he runs mograg gallery with co-founder Motoko Ohta in Tokyo. Teaming up with interesting artists, they propose “Japanese lowbrow art” as an attitude to enjoy the very current art.

mograg gallery

https://twitter.com/mograggarage

The history of "mograg" dates back in 2008. It was launched by Motoko Ota (owner) and oki-chu.(painter/director). We hold/direct exhibitions basically with 2-dimensional works of artists whose style is beyond the genre or the way of expressions are uncategorized. Producing merchandises is actively going on as well. The concept of the gallery is "the Japanese Lowbrow Art”. The gallery offers visitors a chance to encounter "familiar art" that conveys the fun of "painting/viewing" more directly as art for the masses that emerged from the periphery of the mainstream "high art”.
