Picturing a "GODDESS" that is divine, evil, and sometimes humorous,

PYUUPIRU, the contemporary artist living genderlessly, will hold a new exhibition for the first time in 12 years!

DIESEL ART GALLERY presents "GODDESS" the solo exhibition by an acclaimed Japanese contemporary artist, PYUUPIRU from Friday November 22, 2019 until Thursday February 13, 2020.

Born 1974, in Tokyo, PYUUPIRU started presenting her works in the late 90s, and became active as a contemporary artist after participating in the Yokohama Triennale in 2005. Focusing on portraits and three-dimensional works, her work includes various expressions including soft sculpture, costume design, character design, art direction and writing. Her works have influenced not only contemporary art but also a variety of genres, and have been highly appreciated both in Japan and overseas.

In her creative activities, conflicting concepts such as "life and death", "man and woman", "self and others" and "harm and damage" are superimposed with her own body and sublimated to present them as works of art. These works could invite us to a higher world that exists beyond the boundaries of gender and sexuality.

The exhibition will feature the large portrait series "GODDESS" which she started creating in 2010. For the first time, there will be an addition of 7 new pieces to the series, a large sculpture, and new related works to show the entire vision of "GODDESS" as PYUUPIRU envisages and dreams of.

Exhibition works and artist-related merchandise such as postcards will also be on sale at the venue.

An autograph session is also scheduled on Saturday December 21, 2019 from 16:00 to 18:00 at DIESEL ART GALLERY.
