A journey through the desert, where reality blurs.

The world’s first solo exhibition by photographer Adam Powell, presented at DIESEL ART GALLERY.

DIESEL ART GALLERY presents “The DESERT is a CIRCLE” an exhibition by New York City-based photographer Adam Powell, from November 14, 2026 to January 11, 2027.

“The DESERT is a CIRCLE” takes us on a journey across the desert, passing through empty landscapes, highways and motels where time begins to lose its meaning.

Along the way, photographer Adam Powell occasionally appears within the photographs, a solitary figure moving through this strange world. The landscape keeps changing, each night brings a different motel room, and the days begin to blur together. Moments seem to drift between the real and the imagined, until it feels as though we're trapped in a fever dream.

There is no clear beginning or end to the journey. The road stretches on, with no end in sight.

In addition to the artworks on display, T-shirts and other merchandise produced in collaboration with DIESEL will also be available for purchase at the exhibition.

Adam Powell is a New York City-based photographer originally from Essex, England. He works across commissioned photography and personal projects.

His personal projects move between observed and constructed photographs, often blurring the distinction between the two. His images explore themes of time, repetition, commerce and Americana. Self-portraiture is a recurring part of his practice, with Powell often placing himself within the places and situations he photographs.

His work spans music, fashion and contemporary culture, with projects for artists such as Blood Orange, Water From Your Eyes and Kerwin Frost, as well as brands and media including DIESEL, Salomon, Highsnobiety, i-D, PAPER Magazine and SSENSE.

“The DESERT is a CIRCLE” is Powell’s first solo exhibition.
